Badminton

Chris is currently studying a Bachelor of Management majoring in Agribusiness while he is playing Badminton for New Zealand. Coming from Hamilton Boys' High School he looks forward to improving his leadership skills under the guidance of mentors also on the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme. He is working especially hard during training to reach his goals of attending the Olympics and Commonwealth Games where in the near future he hopes to play in Denmark. Chris has been making the most of his opportunities in tournaments such as the 2015 New Zealand open where he gained valuable experience from playing Hsu Jen Hao from Taiwan (ranked 20th in the world). Another tournament which also had a large impact on his career was the 2015 World Junior Championship where he was matched up against the best in the world. One of the highlights of his career was his match at the World Junior Championship where he suffered a narrow loss to the Turkish doubles pair ranked 13th in the world, by only a few points.

Achievements

Silver Medal - Uni National Championships - 28/06/2017

Silver medal at the 2017 Uni national championships in June. This involved beating all other tertiary institutions when reaching the final and then we suffered a close defeat to Auckland.

Wining all games in the tournament except for the very close game in the final.
