Claudia Ashby

Swimming

Former Sacred Heart Girls’ College Claudia Ashby has been swimming for more than nine years and says the feeling she gets after leaving everything in the pool after a race helps keep her motivated. Qualifying for the 2016 NZ World Junior Open Water Team in Holland, and representing the open team to the 2016 Oceania Champs in Fiji are some of Claudia’s biggest achievements, and she hopes to one day represent New Zealand at events such as the World Champs, Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games. For now Claudia plans to focus on continuously improving and training hard. Claudia says the Hillary Scholarship will not only help her financially but will help push her to be the best athlete she can be and she is grateful for the support the scholarship will provide. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance majoring in Human Performance Science.
