Georgia Allen : Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons))
Despite the early starts required for rowing training, Hamilton’s Georgia Allen loves the competitive and social atmosphere of rowing. Georgia started rowing when she was in Year 9 at Hamilton Girls’ High School. Back at high school she won gold in the Girls U18 Single Sculls at the North Island Secondary Schools Champs and NZ Secondary Schools Rowing Champs (Maadi Cup) 2014, and won gold in the club single at North Island Rowing Champs and NZ National Rowing Championships 2014. She has been selected into the Waikato RPC Squad for the 2014/2015 season and made the U19 junior women’s quad for New Zealand in 2014. In her second season of WRPC, she won gold in the u20 single sculls at NZ National Rowing Champs 2016, and also won gold in the u22 quad. At high school, Georgia was the science prefect for 2014, giving her an active role on the Academic Council. She was also a member of the SADD council and a Student Mentor which involved mentoring Year 9 students. In future, Georgia hopes to be competing at an elite level in rowing for New Zealand.
