Matthew Graham : Bachelor of Science (BSC)
Hamiltonian Matthew Graham has been playing badminton for the past seven years after a friend encouraged him to play when he was at intermediate school. Matthew says that meeting people from across New Zealand and the high intensity of the game is what he enjoys most. Matthew has been involved in many badminton competitions including international tournaments, junior New Zealand representative matches, and senior and junior age group tournaments. His biggest accomplishments to date include being selected to represent New Zealand at the Pan Pacific Team event competition in Australia and winning the U19 New Zealand team event competition. Matthew’s future aspirations include being selected into the New Zealand Senior squad and representing New Zealand at the 2018 or 2022 Commonwealth Games. He says the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship will allow him to train and socialise with likeminded students and will give him the opportunity to combine both his sporting endeavours with his academic goals. He will study a Bachelor of Science.
