Max Munneke : Bachelor of Music (BMus)

Max Munneke

Performance Piano

Max is from Gonville, Whanganui, and started playing piano at 13. Originally a flautist, Max quickly began enjoying the sounds of the piano when using one to tune his flute. Max was then given his first piano by a local, starting what he recognises as a life-long journey. Max was awarded the AMusNZ Diploma and has won the Whanganui Regional NZCT Chamber Music Competition and placed fourth in the National Secondary Schools Wallace Art Awards in Auckland. He loves to play the classics, and enjoys getting that little bit closer each year as his playing improves. Max enjoys working closely with his teachers. While being accepted into three North Island universities, Max chose Waikato due to the warmth and companionship expressed by the tutors during his audition, as well as the incredible facilities Waikato has to offer. Max – who draws inspiration from performers ranging from Andre Watts to Kanye West – hopes to make a career out of performing one day.
