Taila Burton is studying for a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Screen & Media Studies and Theatre Studies. The former Aquinas College student from Tauranga has always loved singing and has been part of school choirs since primary school. She loves performing and began taking drama at NCEA Level 1. She is a member of Tauranga Musical Theatre, has been in several musical productions and choir competitions, and has a passion for anything to do with music and drama. She has been singing and dancing since the age of five, and acting since she was 14. She performed as "Minnie" in the 2015 Sir Edmund Hillary Programme production of Blue Stockings. Also in 2015, Taila joined the Hamilton musical theatre company MusikMakers and was a company cast member in their production of "Spamalot". She was awarded Cultural Honours at Aquinas College in 2014 and in the same year, she played Sister Berthe in her school production of The Sound of Music. In 2013 and 2014, she was selected to be a part of the Honours Choir at the Rhapsody Rotorua. In January 2015, she played one of five narrators in Tauranga Musical Theatre’s production of Aladdin Jr. In 2014, she was part of the Student Executive and Head of Arts and Culture at Aquinas. She was a member of Students Against Driving Drunk at Aquinas and went to Fiji on a service project to build a community hall for a small village.
