"Viennese Verve" - OPUS Orchestra
8 Mar 2013 8:00 PM
Experience a concert of grandeur and originality! Beethoven’s Eroica – the revolutionary symphony that changed the course of classical music for all time – takes us on an evocative and wild journey of emotional extremes. It is confessional, perhaps even confrontational, and depicts heroes, revolution, death, grief, confusion, realisation and triumph.
Opus is excited to feature in the same programme the first performance in modern times of the virtuoso Concerto in C minor for double-bass (1790) by Beethoven’s contemporary Johann Sperger. The soloist will be Darija Andzakovic (Opus principal double bass), who will be performing her own edition of the work.
