About the University of Waikato Cultural Committee
The University of Waikato Cultural Committee was established to co-ordinate, develop and allocate funds towards cultural activities and exhibitions, usually based on the University campuses and open to members of the community.
Committed to supporting creative self-expression and intellectual freedom, the mission of the Cultural Committee aligns with the University’s strategic plan ‘to combine the creation of knowledge through research, scholarship and creative works with the dissemination of knowledge through teaching, publication and performance’.
Committee members are made up of representatives from the Departments of Humanities, Music, Screen and Media Studies and Sport and Leisure Studies; the School of Māori and Pacific Development; the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Māori) Office; Pathways College/Continuing Education; the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts; the University of Waikato Tauranga Campus; Waikato Students' Union and the Hamilton City Council.
While much of the Cultural Committee's budget is committed in advance, there is limited funding available for events that arise during the year. For more information on how to apply for funding visit the Apply for Funding page. For contact information, visit the Contacts page.
Details of forthcoming events can be found on the University of Waikato Events Calendar.
