GENERAL LINKS

  • Internet Archive - The Internet Archive is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. The nonprofit Archive provides free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public.

  • Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) offers the definitive database of production information for just about any film (and many television series) that you can name (this site is ideal for getting accurate details for your filmography)

  • The WIT (World Information Tracking) is an online database about television programmes around the world

  • Arts & Letters Daily, a wide-ranging site incorporating reviews and debates within the arts (this site includes links to a number of online newspapers, news services and journals)

  • ScreenSite is a site containing links to a large number of online resources for the study of film and television (all grouped within easily navigated categories - and some archives maintained by ScreenSite have search engines)

  • Educational Cyberplayground a good links page to a wide variety of online resources, from the Hollywood Film Festival, Early cinema, notes on sound and film editing, etc.

  • Popcultures a useful links page, focusing on general resources but also with a cultural studies focus (including music, writing, political issues, etc.)

  • Theory.org a highly recommended resource which brings together a variety of topics related to media theory

  • Media Literacy Online Project - especially the Media Literacy Review section, which provides an annotated list of a sites ranging from media education (everything from Adbusters to online museums are included) and a variety of teaching resources

  • University of Iowa Online Resources, a gateway to a variety of resources provided by their library

  • Screening the Past an electronic journal of visual media and history (with a particular focus on film)

  • Textual Studies - an annotated list of media sites, and online journals

  • MediaStudies.com - a hub providing links to international news, media studies sites, and other resources

  • FlowTV - an online journal of television and media studies

  • Critical Studies in Television - website for print journal
