Woody Allen mock-documentary (see Take
the Money and Run and Husbands and
Wives), this presents the biography of Leonard Zelig, a man
who has the chameleon-like ability to physically transform himself
to blend in with any social group (except women). Zelig becomes
a celebrity in 1920s America, and Allen has the character meet
with major cultural and political figures of the period. Largely
a nostalgia piece, the film also serves as an interesting commentary
on aspects of American culture. |
