The stream planting is establishing very quickly. All plants have been sourced locally. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ending of World War II, a grove of totara Podocarpus totara were planted.

The three Kauri Agathis australis feature within the grove which were planted by three separate Vice-Chancellors of the University of Waikato. The first Vice-Chancellor, Professor D R Llewellyn, Professor W G Malcolm and the present VC Professor Bryan Gould.
