New Works and Alterations

Major Capital Works Planning

This function is carried out by the University's Campus Development Committee (CDC) which meets on a regular basis to determine annual budgetary limits and prioritise projects for recommendation to the University Council. The CDC is an advisory committee to the University Council.

The membership and terms of reference of the group can be seen in the Directory of Committees and Rules of Procedure effective from 2019.

Major Works

These are defined as new work or alterations exceeding $100,000 (excluding GST). Projects to be proceeded with each year are determined by the Campus Development Committee (CDC) according to priority and within overall annual funding constraints.

Once approval in principle has been given, the planning and implementation of building works is carried out by the Campus Development Team within Property Services (formerly the Facilities Management Division) on consultation with appropriate user group representatives.  The contact person is the Associate Director Campus Development.

Minor Capital Works Planning

This function is the responsibility of the Associate Director Campus Development.

Minor Works

These are defined as new work or alterations not exceeding $100,000 (excluding GST). All work requests, whether Division, Faculty, Departmentally or centrally funded, should be referred through the appropriate Division/Faculty/School/Service area  building representative to the Director of Property Services.

Once approval in principle has been given, the planning and implementation of building works is carried out by the Campus Development team within Property Services in consultation with appropriate user group representatives. The contact person is the Associate Director Campus Development.

Minor alteration works less than $5,000 are carried out by either the Campus Development team or the Maintenance team, but in either case the contact is the Associate Director Campus Development.
