The Technical Services Section's responsibilities are to manage all of the University's Electrical and Mechanical plant to standards defined by the New Zealand Building Act 1991 and the Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992, and retain records for audit purposes for such buildings features and equipment, to also ensure best use and performance is gained over their lifetime.
The Section is also involved in Energy procurement and conservation, lighting, power including 11kV infrastructure, heating and air conditioning, standby and emergency plant and equipment including generators, UPS systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting.

Technical Services is a support service for all schools and divisions with special responsibility for ensuring technical safety, staff and student comfort, advising on solutions for internal environmental conditions.
The Section consists of a highly skilled directly employed staff with assistance from specialist contractors.
