The Campaign for Waikato
The Campaign for Waikato was the first major fundraising campaign
conducted on
behalf of the University.
When the Campaign formally closed on 6 December 2000, more than $11m
had been pledged for a variety of projects.
The Campaign for Waikato sought financial support for the development
of the new performing arts academy, now known as the WEL Energy Trust Academy
of Performing Arts; Scholarships and Bursaries, extensions to the
University Recreation Centre and a variety of other projects.
Each project advanced the University's core commitment to excellence in
education.

Endowing a scholarship can be a very special and satisfying decision.
It is to help individual people toward a better future, and through
them, to enhance and enrich society. Scholarships can focus on academic
excellence, areas of academic activity, and specifics such as
ethnicity, geography and financial capacity to study at a tertiary
level.
Naming rights are just one of the benefits available to those
endowing a scholarship. For many people, the greatest reward is meeting
the recipients and following their progress as they study and contribute
to society over the ensuing years.
