The Nola Campbell Memorial eLearning Award
The Nola Campbell Memorial eLearning Award is part of the University Staff Awards and recognises and rewards innovation and excellence in eLearning. It is expected that colleagues and students will nominate staff for this award.
elearning / Technology Enhanced Learning / Blended Learning / Distance Learning
The University has an awards system for great teaching, including one specifically for eLearning. We recognise that incorporating technology into teaching in ways that engage learners and enhance their learning opportunities needs teachers prepared to go that extra mile. This award is one way for the University to say thank you.
What is eLearning?
At the University of Waikato we define eLearning as "A mode of learning that makes deliberate use of Information & Communication Technology". This may include Moodle, Google, MyWeb, podcasting, blogs, wikis, forums, digital media, mindmapping, interactive whiteboards and audience response systems, but is by no means limited to these. We are not so much interested in the particular technology that is used, but much more importantly what is done with it and how it helps learning, understanding and engagement.
What are we looking for?
There are three main areas of evidence that we are looking for in nominations
Application of technology
The use of technology supports learning
Supporting learners
It makes a difference for learners
Professional development
Keeping up to date and helping others
How to Nominate
There are two ways to nominate teachers - download a paper nomination form and mail back to the address on the form or complete the online form. Advice on completing an application is available from Nigel Robertson nwrobert@waikato.ac.nz Ext. 4731
