Our Document Formats
We use a variety of formats for documents on our vacancy pages. For the vast majority of users these formats will pose no problems and the documents will be opened in their web browser. We recommend Internet Explorer (version 4 or later) as it has the necessary plugins already installed. If you are one of the few users who is having difficulty we offer some very basic guidelines below.
If you can't be bothered trying to get this working for yourself and don't have access to technical assistance then simply contact us by phone, fax, email or snail mail to request copies of the various documents you need and indicate that you want them mailed to you rather than sent as email attachments.
- MS Word (.doc)
- Try right clicking (command+click for Mac users) on the document link to save to your local computer then open with your standard word processor, since most will open documents in Microsoft Word format.
- You can also visit the Microsoft website for a free MS Word reader if you don't have a compatible word processor.
- Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Try right clicking (command+click for Mac users) on the document link to save to your local computer then open with your standard word processor, since rich text is a fairly generic format for any word processing package.
- Portable Document Format (.pdf)
- Try right clicking (command+click for Mac users) on the document link to save to your local computer then open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Visit the Adobe website for a free Acrobat reader for your operating system. BeOS users can download a copy of BePDF from the BeBits website.
- Hypertext Format (.html)
If you can't open this then there is a serious problem. It is always possible we have made an error with the http markup, so contact us to let us know your problem and we will do our best to get it working properly.
