Working Here - The Tauranga Experience

Mt Maunganui Beach

The University of Waikato at Tauranga teaches academic programmes in partnership with the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. The University and Polytechnic have forged a strong relationship which is unique in New Zealand, working in partnership and sharing facilities to provide students in Tauranga and the region with a wider range of opportunities for their tertiary-based study.

There are two main sites: Windermere campus and the Bongard centre. All degree and diploma teaching is based at these joint campuses.

Windermere, the main campus, is located on the southern side of the city. A beautiful tree-lined campus with impressive gardens set on 20 hectares of land, Windermere has state-of-the-art training workshops, restaurants, salons, music recording suites and the aquatic centre and gym, Te Pare a Ruahine. The Windermere campus offers Teacher Education, Social Work and other Social Science programmes. The Bongard Centre is located in the heart of Tauranga city, and offers Business and Law programmes.

In addition, the University has premises on Durham St in the city centre. School Support Services, the Education Resource Centre and Pathways College (Continuing Education and English Language teaching) are based in Durham St. For more information about the campuses and programmes offered click here.
