Getting Started With ICT
All staff and students need a computer account in order to access University services. Staff and students will be required to abide by the University of Waikato Computer System Regulations.
Staff & Student Accounts
You will need a computer account in order to access computers, printing and internet on the campus network. Staff accounts require a User Access to be submitted and a student account is created automatically when they enrol.
UniAccess has replaced UARM (User Access Request Management System) and is used to create a user account for a new, casual or full-time staff member or visitor. Users can update or change their account details or request access to a Resource (staff/department share).
A Gmail account allows for unparalleled flexibility and capacity. All you need is a web browser and internet access, and you’ll be tapped into all the features that set Gmail apart from other email services.
UniCash is the term used for money that is put on a student's account to allow printing and photocopying. Student must have a positive UniCash balance to carry out these functions. If you don't have enough money to cover the cost of a large print job, it will not print.
Enrolled students automatically get free internet when using campus WiFi and lab computers on both the Hamilton and Tauranga. Access to the internet for all students 'on campus' is via UOW Students. Internet access for all students 'in the Halls of Residence' is via UOW Halls.
Webdrive is a university-wide solution that enables staff and students to access their home server share from anywhere. It allows the user to upload and download files, rename and delete them, and download as a .zip archive.
The Student Centre is a state-of-the-art multi-functional facility that provides students with a student-centred learning environment, combining traditional library resources with hi-tech IT facilities.
