How to Delete Your Cookies & Temporary Internet Files

If you are having issues with some of your files (eg. an old file keeps opening after you have added a new file in Moodle) or you are unable to access some sites or databases  (eg. My Account at the Library) you will need to clear out the cache on your computer by deleting your cookies and temporary internet files as follows:

Google Chrome

  • Click on Customize Chrome the 3 vertical dots (top right of your browser), and then Settings > Show Advance Settings (Or press CTRL + SHIFT + DEL)
  • Click on Clear browsing data to bring up the below window.

  • Click the down arrow in the box next to "Obliterate the following items from" and click on "the beginning of time". On occasion clearing Hosted App data will fix some issues.
  • Click on Clear browsing data
  • Close and re-open your browser

Internet Explorer:

  • Click Tools, then Internet Options
  • Click the "Delete…" button

  • Tick Cookies and Temporary Internet Files
  • Click Delete

  • Close and re-open your browser

Firefox

  • Click on Open Menu, the 3 horizontal bars (top right of your browser) , and then History > Clear Recent History.

  • Click Clear Recent History
  • Click the down arrow in the box next to "Time Range to Clear" and click on "Everything"

  • Tick "Cookies" and "Cache" (and others you may want to clear)
  • Click Clear Now
  • Close and re-open your browser

Safari

  • Click Safari (on the Safari Menu Bar) > Click Preferences
  • In the Preferences window, click the Privacy tab.
  • Click Remove all Website Data...

  • Click Remove Now on the pop-up window.

The University has provided a Self Service tool through which you can log your own tickets (jobs). You can also search for a previously logged ticket to check it's status. For urgent jobs you can phone the ITS Service Desk: ext 4008 (838 4008) for support.
