Map a Network Drive

Once the Service Desk have advised you that you have the requested access (to a department share) you must first log off the computer and back on again in order for the relevant permissions to be attached to your username.

Note: Please note that you will need to know the path/address of the folder you are attempting to connect before following these instructions. If you are unsure of the address, you can ask fellow staff members or ring the ITS Service desk on ext 4008.

For access to network shares off campus, you will need to be connected to the VPN service before accessing the network drive.

Windows 10

  • Click on File Explorer
  • Click on This PC
  • Click Computer tab

  • Click on the down arrow on the Map Network Drive icon > choose Map Network Drive

  • Choose a letter that is not being used (click the down arrow to find one that is free)

  • In the folder box type the path to the folder
  • Tick Reconnect at logon
  • Click Finish

Windows 7 & 8.1

  • Open My Computer (Computer or This PC)
  • Click on Map Network Drive
    • Windows 7 - Click Map Network Drive (see screenshot)
    • Windows 8.1 - Right Click This PC > Map Network Drive

  • Choose a letter that is not being used (click the down arrow to find one that is free)

    • In the folder box type the path to the folder
    • Tick Reconnect at logon
    • Click Finish

LD Self ServiceLog Your Own Ticket

The University has provided a Self Service tool through which you can log your own tickets (jobs). You can also search for a previously logged ticket to check it's status. For urgent jobs you can phone the ITS Service Desk: ext 4008 (838 4008) for support.
