Doug Tennent - Lecturer

Doug Tennent returned to Te Piringa in June 2011 having worked at Te Piringa from 2003-2009. Doug worked for seven years from 1984-1992 as an advocate in the court and prison system in the Highland of Papua New Guinea under a joint project of the Anglican and Catholic Churches. He also taught from 1998-2002 at the Faculty of Law at the University of Papua New Guinea. There his teaching and research areas were: Contracts, civil procedure and remedies, international human rights. He was also for a period of time the Associate Dean. When coming to Te Piringa he taught Corporate Entities, Torts (Accident Compensation), Equity, and Immigration and Refugee Law. Doug has written regularly for the Immigration and Practitioners Bulletin and has published the text book and Immigration and Refugee Law. He has also written a monograph on Contract Law in Papua New Guinea for Klwer Law. He has been contracted by Lexis Nexis to write a text on Accident Compensation Law. His areas of research and supervision are: Accident Compensation, Corporate Governance, Constructive Trusts, Immigration and Refugee Law.
