Trevor Daya-Winterbottom is a Senior Lecturer at Te Piringa - Faculty of Law, University of Waikato. His teaching, research, and consultancy focus on environmental law (resource management), administrative law (judicial review and specialist courts), and corporate governance (criminal liability and sentencing). Before joining the Faculty in 2003 he practiced law with Chapman Tripp in Auckland.
He has published 31 refereed journal articles in New Zealand and internationally, and has contributed chapters to 5 published books. His most recent publication is "Climate change, harmonisation, and public policy" in W Gumley and T Daya-Winterbottom (Editors) Climate Change Law: Comparative, Contractual & Regulatory Considerations (2009) Thomson Reuters Lawbook Co.
A current focus of his research is the harmonisation of environmental laws across the Australian and New Zealand jurisdictions.

He is Chairperson of the RMLA Editorial Committee, and Founding General Editor of Resource Management Theory & Practice.
Trevor is a scholar-practitioner, and in addition to his academic responsibilities he practices law as a Barrister sole acting for leading commercial clients. Recent work has included hearings and appeals on Environment Waikato Variation 6 - Water Allocation, and appearing before the Court of Appeal in Auckland Regional Council - v - Living Earth Ltd [2009] NZRMA 22. He is also a LEADR accredited mediator.
He has also written and presented submissions to Parliamentary Select Committees on the implications of draft environmental and resource management legislation.
