The TPPA and New Zealand Environmental Law - CEREL Student Event
23 March 2016
Date: Wednesday, 23rd March 2016
Venue: LAW.G.02, Faculty of Law, University of Waikato
What is the possible effect of the investment provisions of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) on the protection and man- agement of New Zealand’s environment?
The TPPA lays down certain standards of treatment to protect foreign investors. A useful guide to their implications are decisions on environmental protection under similar trade agreements. Such decisions are also a guide to likely TPPA consequences in the event of a major environmental disaster.
Lunch and drinks will be provided including vegetarian / vegan options.
Dr Alberto Alvarez-Jimenez will present insights based on his expertise in trade law. A moderated discussion will be led by Professor Barry Barton.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org for catering purposes.
This event is hosted by the Centre for Environment, Resources, and Energy Law (CEREL).
