Databases for journal articles and conference papers

It is recommended that indexing databases are used in the first instance, as they will search for articles in journals by many different publishers, whereas most full text databases are confined to journals by a single publisher. Indexing databases will give the citation and abstract for an article, and often a link to the full text of the article if we have access to it on another (full text) database.
