Microforms Collection

Scope
Approximately 70,000 microforms (i.e. microfilms, microfiche and microcards) and
a variety of microform readers and reader-printers. Very popular for the New
Zealand Herald and The Dominion newspapers.
Location
- Microforms Room, Central Library, Level 2, north-east corner
- Some law-related microforms, with readers, are available
in the Law Library
- New Zealand material (including Māori newspapers) on
microfiche, together with reading and printing facilities, is held in the New
Zealand Collection
- The Māori Land Court records are located in the New Zealand Collection,
Level 3.
Finding Aids & Access Tools
- Library Catalogue: Newspapers, books or serials
published in microform are listed in the Library Catalogue with the location "Microforms Room, Level
2".
- There is also an author card catalogue of holdings up until the end of 1988 in the Microforms Room
Help & More Information
Written instructions are available near the machines and
personal help is provided by staff at the Level 2 Information Desk.
NB.
The lights in the room must be switched on in order for equipment to work.
Photocopies may be made from microfilm or microfiche using a
reader-printer, at 30 cents per A4 or 60 cents per A3 copy from a photocopying card. You can
ask at the Circulation Desk on Level 2 to have copies made for you, but this service will incur a charge.
