Request Items through Library Search
Before you request specific items please check the Library Catalogue to see if we have a copy. The catalogue may link you to an electronic version.
To request items directly from the catalogue:
- Search for the item
- Click on the title to open the full record
- Click ‘Request this item’ (under Actions in yellow block to right of page)
- Select Hold if the item is available, or recall if the item is on loan
- Choose ‘Any Copy’
- Select Distance as the pick up location
- Click Submit
Note: Journal Articles can't be requested through the catalogue, but you can check Library Search for an electronic version (see Finding Journal Articles) or email libyref@waikato.ac.nz and we will scan and email you the article. Please include as much information about the journal article as possible in your email.
For more information on borrowing from the Library, please see Borrowing Information.
Location topic/subject specific information
Please be as specific as possible about the information you need. Include any keywords, synonyms and definitions of ambiguous terms. Requests can be emailed through to libyref@waikato.ac.nz or submitted through VERD via Moodle (Education students only).
Receiving Library material
The Library pays the outward postage costs, and you will pay the return postage or courier costs, however there is a small fee for each article requested, charged to your Library Record. There is generally no charge for Interlibrary loan, but you will be contacted if there is a cost associated with your request.
You can check the status of requested items through My Account. If you need help please email libyref@waikato.ac.nz.
We aim to fill your request within 1 working day from the date we receive it. Recalled items may take up to 10 days.
Interlibrary Loan and Borrow Direct
If the University of Waikato Library doesn't own the item you require, try Borrow Direct or request that we obtain it for you. To do this, either see Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services or email libyref@waikato.ac.nz with the details of the item.
