Z Portal is the software that University of Waikato staff and students will use to request items from other libraries or document delivery companies. There are three stages to the process:
SEARCH millions of bibliographic records to identify the required item. This includes Te Puna (NZ Libraries), Libraries Australia and our University of Waikato catalogue, or if needed your search can be expanded to include Worldcat, which holds millions of records from libraries around the world. As the aim is to get the proper bibliographic record for your request, it does not matter where the item is held.
PLACE REQUESTS by selecting 'Get It' when you find a record for the item you require. The necessary data is then automatically entered, along with contact details of the Requester and the system will then find the best library to fill the request.
TRACK REQUESTS using the system-generated Request Number (ILL No). When your requested electronic document arrives it will be attached to the Request Number as a PDF which can be downloaded, printed or saved for a second viewing, or for seven days from the first viewing. An email will also be sent to let you know that an item is available for pick-up.
