APA Style: Common Examples

We at the University of Waikato Library have compiled and refined APA information and examples for students and staff of the University of Waikato. These resources are designed to accompany (not replace) the 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2010), which is available in the Library.

The Library also offers tutorials regularly on how to use APA, that are free to attend. Sign up for an APA tutorial.

How to cite/reference material

This page provides examples of how to cite materials both in your list of references and in text. For examples of how to quote directly, paraphrase, and cite from a secondary source, go to "Citations in Text & Reference List" section. For an easy to use, 2 page printable version of this section, download the Library's handy APA Quick Guide [208.4 kb].
