WISE: Types of databases
There are many types of databases. The most common are:
- indexing – contain citations (references) only or citations with abstracts
- full-text – contain citations, abstracts and the complete article text
|
Databases can be searched by:
- keywords
- subject terms
- author
- article title
- journal title or source
|
If we only have a topic to search for, we begin with keyword searching.
When we already have a citation to an article, we can search by its author,
title or journal title.
