WISE: Step 1: Define the topic from the assignment example

Identify keywords or search terms or phrases for the most important concepts.
  • Keywords identified: internet, social relationships
  • Enclose key phrases with speech marks. For example, "world wide web"
Brainstorm for alternative terms (synonyms) including singular/plural forms, spelling variations and different word endings.
  • Alternative terms identified: World Wide Web, WWW, personal relationships, human relationships; friendship
  • Singular and plural forms and different word endings will be found by using truncation e.g. relation* to find relation, relations, relationship, relationships.
The resulting search strategy is:
