WISE: Using indexes and journal databases

A journal index:
  • lists journal articles by subject, and sometimes by author
  • covers a specific topic area or discipline
  • saves time in browsing through each journal issue for articles
  • is increasingly in electronic format
  • often includes an abstract (summary of article) in addition to the citation

In this module, we are referring to journal databases when we use the term databases.
