The Guided Search function provides drop-down menus
to guide the construction of a keyword search. It is useful when searching
for specific fields or combinations of fields or when the exact title
or full author’s name is not known.
To find items:
enter each chosen search term or phrase in a Search
for box and select either all of these
(same as the AND Boolean connector) , any of these
(same as the OR Boolean connector) or as a phrase
from the corresponding drop down menu
choose the appropriate Boolean connector from the radio buttons
(both buttons must be the same)
select the relevant field from the Search by drop
down menu
click on the grey Search button
WISE hints:
use the ? as a wildcard or to truncate words
do not use quotation marks around phrases; select as
a phrase from the drop down menu instead
click on Help on the toolbar for further Guided
Search tips
use the Keyword Boolean option in Basic Search
for complex keyword searches
