WISE: Call numbers

Finding items on the shelves can seem complicated to begin with, but once you understand how to interpret call numbers, it becomes easier! Each Library of Congress call number has four parts. The call number for the book Business without borders by Donald DePalma is shown below.

Some call numbers are more complex than the one above. They have additional letters and numbers in the third part of the call number e.g. QC883.2.C5B87 1992. This occurs when there is a lot of material published in that subject area. They are read in the same way as other call numbers.
