Alumni and friends catch up in Auckland

Auckland-based alumni and friends from the University of Waikato met in Mt Eden this week for an evening with national agribusiness commentator Jacqueline Rowarth.

Professor Jacqueline Rowarth heads the University’s agribusiness programme and is currently standing as a candidate for a Fonterra directorship. She spoke to an audience of over 50 about the importance of and innovation to New Zealand’s economic wellbeing.

University of Waikato in top 1.8% of world’s universities

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Roy Crawford spoke about the latest news and highlights, including Waikato’s recent rankings success, placing the University of Waikato in the top 1.8% of universities in the world.

Earlier in the week alumni and friends gathered at Mills Reef Winery in Tauranga to hear from internationally-renowned opera singer and Senior Fellow in Music Dame Malvina Major.

The University regularly hosts events like this across New Zealand and internationally to keep alumni engaged with Waikato.

Waikato has the highest proportion of female professors and associate professors of all New Zealand universities. Women make up one-quarter of Waikato’s professors, and more than one-third of its associate professors.
