Ground breaking and blessing ceremony held for new Law and Management Building

At dawn on Monday 14 October, a ground breaking and blessing ceremony was held at the University of Waikato to mark the start of work on the new Law and Management Building.
Following a karakia by Rahui Papa, Pou Tikanga for Faculty of Law and Chairperson of Te Arataura, the executive committee of Waikato Tainui, there were speeches and the turning of the first piece of ground by Vice-Chancellor Professor Roy Crawford. A light breakfast was held in the Waikato Management School after the ceremony.
Construction of the new Law Management Building will take about 18 months, and staff should be able to move in mid-2015. The new building will house Te Piringa – Faculty of Law and Waikato Management School’s Centre for Corporate and Executive Education as well as student services.
