About Us
Waikato Pathways College's Community Education offers non-credit programmes and short courses to enable the community to enjoy the benefits of
the knowledge resources of the University. It draws on the University's staff and other high calibre presenters on subjects as diverse as Archaeology,
Geology, English, History, Art Therapy, Art History, Rongoa Maori, Education, Professional Development and much more.
The Centre works with a wide range of organisations within the community and other education providers to deliver a wide range of community based programmes.
Mission
To be an effective link between the University and the community it serves; to disseminate the knowledge of the university; to provide a broad range of high quality learning opportunities which reflect the university's unique strengths and expertise; and to provide distinctiveness and international connectedness.
Goals
- To make an important contribution to meeting the Government's broad educational, social and economic objectives
- To participate in lifelong learning research and consultancy, policy developments and analysis
- To raise the profile of the University within its region
- To establish appropriate education/professional/cultural partnerships
- To play an integral role in suppporting the achievement of the University's vision and key strategic objectives
- To contribute to the developmentof the University region by enabling communities, groups and individuals through educative processes
- To promote lifelong learning as a fundamental principle and right of all citizens
- To meet the learning needs and aspirations of the communities served by the University
- To promote the place of the Treaty in New Zealand society
- To provide a forum for critical debate on current educational and social issues
- To provide excellence and innovation in programme provision, and quality service to participants and enquirers
