Issues of Ageing in Later Life
In later life we face many issues arising from physiological and cultural changes. This four-session lecture/discussion course is intended to cover major issues of ageing in later life. In particular, the following topics will be explored: ageing and social change, mental health in older age, ageing in place, and financing one's older years.

Dogs 101: How to better communicate with and train your dog
A good relationship with your dog is achieved through effective communication and training. Owners will learn how dogs learn, and how to
interpret their dogs' body language. We will discuss setting dogs up to succeed at home through the use of some common-sense rules. How to
train basic commands will be explained along with tips for training successfully. Strategies to prevent and/or manage common behaviour problems
will be discussed. Participants will be given opportunities to ask questions throughout the seminar.
Presenters: Amanda Tucker Amanda works with the Hamilton City Council and is an education officer dealing specifically with difficult/dangerous
dog handling, dog rehabilitation and re-homing. She is also a canine behaviour assessor. Clare Browne PHD student in the School of Psychology
at UOW, studying dog human communication factors that affect dog training. Tracy Wilde holds a M Soc Sci and deals with the principles of canine
behaviour. She works as an instructor in the Hamilton dog obedience club.

Hamilton Community Centre of Music
The Hamilton Community Centre of Music is the Saturday morning music programme run in conjunction with Continuing Education. All age groups are catered for and you you can select from a wide range of instruments. You may also choose to play in our many groups and bands, or like to join our choir. Our friendly and experienced tutors will help you develop your skills, and you can rent most instruments from us at very competitive rates. Open Day 9.00am to 12noon on Saturday 11th February 2012 at the Faculty of Education student cafeteria, signposted from Gate 4, Hillcrest Rd.

Rauawaawa Charitable Trust Programmes
In partnership with the Frankton/Dinsdale Rauawaawa Charitable Trust, the Centre for Continuing Education offers the following courses. All courses align with school holidays. The following courses begin each term, and are held at Te Puna o te Ora, 50 Colombo Street, Frankton.

Community Development for Clubs & Associations
This programme is made up of four sessions and will focus on club planning, club support, funding and sponsorship and getting
volunteers on board.

Smart Coach
The Smart Coach community delivery is for new/beginner coaches seeking to support a school level sport team. Tailored to suit the needs of participants the programme can lead to a national qualification. The programme covers the basic of being an effective coach, as well as planning sessions, codes of conduct and more! Workshops available in Hamilton, and all regions.

A community development programme that is practical based designed to engage and provide people with the tools and skills to think critically and reflect upon how they can build capacity and resilience within recessive economic times.
