Carrie Swanson is a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Microbiology and a teacher at intermediate and lower secondary levels. Her interests include science, English and drama. She is in her first year of her PhD in the Faculty of Education. Her research is entitled: "Mantle of the expert: drama as a means of teaching science in a Year 7/8 class". |

Todd is currently a doctoral candidate in Political Science & Public Policy, where he is working with the South Asian community researching immigration, diversity and multicultural policies. Todd has a long history in cross-cultural education and study abroad, having spent over a decade living and working in India, Pakistan and Nepal. Before returning to complete his PhD, Todd was the Academic Director for the School for International Training's Biodiversity and Conservation Programme, based here at the University of Waikato. |

Jim is a doctoral student in the School of Engineering. He came to Waikato in 2009 and completed an MSc. looking at the environmental impacts of producing plastics from bloodmeal before enrolling in a PhD. researching the relaxation behaviour of such materials. Prior to this he studied biochemistry at the University of Canterbury and then detoured through management, working in the advertising and software industries. Outside of his studies, Jim enjoys playing guitar, drinking coffee and cooking dinner for his wife.
