Summer Research Scholarships

STEP 1

Submitting a project (Academic staff)

If you have a project that you feel would be suitable, please submit a completed Project Submission Form and an Academic Signature Form to the Scholarships Office by Thursday 9 June.  

Project submissions will be put before a selection panel which will choose which projects will be included as part of the University’s Summer Research Scholarship programme.  In considering specific projects the selection panel will take into consideration the subject area and will be influenced by the University’s research strategy.  Each Project Submission applied for is to support one student for a period of ten weeks full-time research.

Selected projects will be open to application from students in mid July.

If you have funding available to support your own research project over the summer study break you may wish to contact us to discuss including this project under the Summer Research Scholarship scheme.

STEP 2

Student applications

Student applications close 31 August (Faculty of Science & Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Science and Faculty of Education students) and 30 September (all other Schools / Faculties)

The selected projects will be advertised to students in mid July.  The scholarships are offered to students on a contestable basis.  In submitting an application for a Summer Research Scholarship students will apply to participate in a specific (approved) research project.  Supervising staff will be consulted during the student selection process.  Please note that student applications will not be open and available until mid July 2011.
