Conference Services


Location

Situated in the heart of the North Island of New Zealand, the University of Waikato is set in 68 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, making it an ideal venue for conferences, seminars and retreats. The University of Waikato is 127kms south of Auckland, 4kms east of Hamilton City centre and 14kms north of Hamilton Airport. Within one and a half hours of major tourist attractions, national and international facilities abound. Ample parking is available during the vacation period.

Conference Rooms

The University has over 100 lecture and seminar rooms.

There are three main theatre blocks:

Theatre blocks have ample room for exhibitions, trade displays and catering. Our newest lecture block (S Block) has-state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment available.

The Academy of Performing Arts

The Academy of Performing Arts contains two primary performance venues, a concert chamber for 340 people and a playhouse theatre for up to 183. It also contains a Dance Studio and Te Whare Tapere Iti, a room designed for kapa haka and other Maori and cultural performing arts. There is also a large foyer (Perry Foundation Foyer and Calder and Lawson Gallery) specifically designed to allow the public exhibition of art works and for conferences and corporate events - Academy Of Performing Arts Website.

Equipment

Overhead projectors slide projectors, tape recorders, televisions, public address systems, data projectors and video linkage can be arranged. Specialised equipment is available on request.

Accommodation

We offer 718 single rooms in our Halls of Residence from mid-November until mid-February. All Halls are close to the University's swimming pool and Recreation Centre, have laundry facilities, TV rooms, games rooms, dining and bar areas.

Catering

Catering is an important part of any conference. Our on-campus caterers can meet all your catering requirements, from breakfast through to supper. A variety of menus are available for conference dinners and we provide full bar facilities.
