Online Application Process

All students who wish to live on campus in one of the University of Waikato Halls of Residence are required to complete an online application. This is a two part process:

Part 1: Registration – provide some information about yourself so we can e-mail you with your login details.
Part 2: Complete the 9 steps on the online application. You will be required to enter personal details, upload a photo and enter your accommodation preference.

Please answer all relevant questions on the application. Questions denoted with * are compulsory.

Once your online application is complete you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
You can check the progress of your application online at any time by clicking on the On Campus Accommodation – Apply Now button again, this time entering your username and password. Click on the Application button and under the Term Selector you will see the status of your application.

NZ Citizens/ Permanent Residents

There are three points that must be completed by all domestic students:

Online Application. These applications close on 1 October. Late applications will be considered if rooms are available.
Verified Results. You must send a verified copy of your NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) results to the Accommodation and Conference Services Office.
Common Confidential Reference. Every domestic student must submit a reference.

A school reference is required if you are currently at school or left within the last 2 years. Please give the common confidential reference form to your School Principal / referee. Ensure your referee completes the reference and sends it to the Accommodation & Conferences Services Office before 1 October.
A reference is required if you left school more than two years ago. Please give the common confidential reference form to a referee to complete. It must be completed by the Principal of your former Secondary School, an employer, or an adult who is not a relative or friend. If you have previously resided in University or Polytechnic accommodation, the head of that property would be a suitable referee. You must sign the applicant declaration, giving permission for your referee to provide a reference. Ensure your referee completes the reference and sends it to the Accommodation & Conferences Services Office before 1 October.

The completed online application, confidential reference, and verified NCEA results must all be received by 1 October to be considered in the first selection round of offers.

International Students

Applications close on 1 December. Late applications will be considered if rooms are available.
If you would like to apply for on campus accommodation, please click the ‘On Campus Accommodation – Apply Now’ button and complete the online application.
We do not require a 'Common Confidential Reference' from International Students.
If you would like to apply for off campus or Homestay accommodation, you are not required to do this online. Please print the 'Off campus and/or Homestay' application form and send it in to us (address is on the application form).
All International students - print, complete and submit the arrival form. This form must arrive at our office at least 4 days before you arrive in New Zealand - (i.e. Monday - Friday before 4.30pm NZ time)
