Helpful Reminders
About to send out an application? Check out these helpful reminders first!
Covering letter - is the date correct? Is the name of the person & company/firm correct? Have you signed your letter? Have you taken the time to write an original letter for that company?
Are your documents in the right order? - application form on top, then your cover letter, next your CV, and finally your academic transcript.
Only include a photograph with your CV if it is specifically asked for.
All documents must be stapled together - top left hand corner. No binders, folders or envelopes. Check the closing dates.
A copy of your academic transcript can be obtained from the Gateway. You must allow at least one week for it to be processed. The cost is approx $10.00.
Spelling. Don't rely on spell checkers - especially if you have used capital letters in headings. Spell checkers usually ignore all words that are all CAPITALS.
Be sure to note the documents required for each company/firm that you are applying to, and to follow any specific instructions regarding your application.
