Insurance for International Students

International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. Your insurance must be continuous for your full period of study in New Zealand. Without appropriate insurance you will not be able to enrol. This is a New Zealand Government requirement as stated in the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

Studentsafe-University

All New Zealand Universities have collaboratively worked together to establish a Group Insurance Plan to cover their international students medical and travel requirements. This plan is called Studentsafe-University and is the preferred insurance for the University of Waikato. Any international student enrolling at a New Zealand University is eligible for this insurance. Visit the Studentsafe-University website for more information.
