Experience New Zealand at Waikato
The University of Waikato is a vibrant and proud university nestled in the heart of the mighty Waikato region. Home to New Zealand’s longest river, Waikato is a distinctive Māori name which means ‘flowing water’.
Our main campus is situated in the bustling city of Hamilton, with a satellite campus based in the seaside city of Tauranga. Only a 90-minute drive south of New Zealand’s largest city of Auckland, Hamilton is located in the central North Island.
Hamilton is near many of New Zealand’s most popular tourist attractions and outdoor activities including surfing, skiing, hiking, caving, climbing and kayaking.
At Waikato, you can combine major and supporting subjects from more than 3000 courses. Choose from a broad range of qualifications and build a flexible structure to suit your interests and career plans.
We offer bachelors, honours and masters degrees, graduate and postgraduate diplomas and certificates. We also have a thriving doctoral study program.
Enrol at Waikato for one or two semesters and credit study to your home degree. Or you may choose to complete a full degree with us.
The University of Waikato is accredited by the US Department of Education to administer US Government funding (Stafford Loans) on behalf of its citizens or eligible non-citizens who are enrolled at least half-time in an approved degree programme.
