Bentham Ohia has been a senior manager within Te Wananga o Aotearoa (TwoA) for 16 years. Before this his work history included tutoring in Te Reo Maori at Otago University and teaching at Huntly’s Rakaumanga School.
Bentham completed his MBA at Waikato University where he developed a management style that supports his skill, talents and experience.
Bentham was appointed manager of the Te Awamutu Campus in 1995. His role grew to include wider national responsibilities.
In 2005 he was appointed acting Chief Executive of TWoA following the resignation of then Tumuaki (Chief Executive) Rongo Wetere.
A postgraduate qualification has supported Bentham’s ability and credibility to apply for (and succeed in) the Chief Executive position. This role has seen his focus shift from an operational focus to a strategic focus. Bentham manages 37,000 students and 1400 staff across 180 sites throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand.
