Te Ranga Ngaku -
Māori Management Student Network
Te Ranga Ngaku – Māori Management Student Network
Te Ranga Ngaku (TRN) is an established Māori student network within the Waikato Management School (WMS). The kaupapa of the rōpu is
to encourage whakawhanaungatanga of all Māori students through Manākitanga, Awhi, and Tautoko. TRN is here to support and promote theactivities and interests of all Māori management students.
TRN is governed by an executive committee and meets regularly with the Dean, raising issues on behalf of tauira Māori. TRN has a national reputation as being the most active Māori student network in commerce and business, looking after our Māori tauira from study within the WMS to corporate Aotearoa and beyond.
Make sure you are a part of the rōpu – come and have a kōrero, meet the whānau, have a nohi, and see what you can be a part of this year and how TRN can help you. We are all here to make sure that we succeed academically, build our connections with the corporate world for mahi when we fi nish, and most of all, have an awesome time while we do it!
So come in for a kōrero, we would love to meet you and fi nd out if you are related!
Whakapiri mai tātou, kia kotahi
Te Ranga Ngaku Network Hui
Regular network meetings will be called throughout the year. This is a chance for all tauira Māori to come together, have a kai, a few laughs, and fi nd out more about the latest happenings for Māori in the WMS. Look out for the posters, and keep a sharp eye on your emails for more details.
Noho Marae – whakawhanaungatanga
At the beginning of the year Te Ranga Ngaku will offer network students the chance to take part in a noho marae, where students
can meet their fellow Māori Management students and become a part of the TRN whānau. The dates will be confi rmed at the Te Ranga Ngaku hui.
Haerenga
Each year Te Ranga Ngaku network students go on an employer networking trip. For one week during the mid-semester break,
the group visits successful Māori in business for employer networking, business environment education and inspirational career
options. This trip has been successful in offering Māori students employment opportunities after the completion of their studies
and to build a closer network between Māori management students and the outside business world.
Social Sports
During the year the network signs up teams for social sports. This is a great way to meet other Māori management students.
The sports available include: indoor netball, soccer, and volleyball and outdoor touch.
Māori Graduation Dinner
Every year we see our Māori management students reach their goals and complete their qualifi cations. To celebrate their success,
we put on a kai in their honour around graduation time. All Te Ranga Ngaku members will be invited to join the celebration.
Te Ranga Ngaku Study Room
All Māori management students have access to a study room in the Management Student Centre (MSC). This room is a study space with computers and internet access. The Māori mentors, Māori Consultant, and Kaitautoko Advisor, are close by for any questions on any take.
