Māori Info Day 2013

Māori Info Day was once again buzzing with over 100 students coming to check out the support systems available to them at the University of Waikato. Free food and entertainment by DJ Rob of Phatmode Entertainment were definitely highlights of the day but our main reason for the event was the promotion of our Māori Mentoring units. These are present in each faculty. Each unit has a solid group of students, majority Māori, who are there to assist other students with any problem they may have during the year. Also there to support were staff from our wider support network, Te Puna Tautoko, including the Scholarships office, the Library, Student Learning, WSU and Te Waiora o Waikato, the Māori Students Association. With stricter guidelines around re-entry we hope our Māori students were able to take in the message about all the services available and make the most of them throughout their time here.
