Kanohi ki te Kanohi
Introductory Programme for New Staff
Kanohi ki te Kanohi literally means face to face, but a more accurate English
title for this session would be Knowledge Connections. This is an opportunity
to encounter Māori protocols and culture directly and to develop a better
understanding of important issues for a bicultural organisation commited
to the Treaty of Waitangi.
Why are you being invited?
The University is commited to providing training for all staff so that they
gain a proper understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
This session aims to provide a common basic understanding of the Treaty and
associated issues.
Who should attend?
All new staff are expected to attend Day One in order to gain a proper understanding
of the Treaty in accordance with the University's strategic objectives, but
any staff member may attend, and staff have the option of attending both
days if they wish and as local needs allow. Any staff who feel they already
have a good understanding may still benefit from attendance and be able to
make a valuable contribution to workshop discussion, so feel free to contact
us to discuss this further if you wish.
