Research Interests:
It was my interest in and practice of resource management law which led me to take up teaching positions at the University of Waikato. I have taught resource management law at various levels in the Department of Geography, Tourism & Environmental Planning and as a contract lecturer at the School of Law.
I teach in the Environmental Planning programme of the Department. My particular areas of research interest are:
- All areas of Environmental Law, encompassing a wide range of statutes, with particular focus on the Resource Management Act 1991 and statutory processes governing resource use and protection.
- The common law as it relates to the environment.
- Special focus areas - conservation, biodiversity, avian fauna, energy generation, organic production, GMO contamination, internalisation of effects, property rights, environmental ethics and resource management plans.
Environmental Reflections
A blog that aims to reflect on environmental issues and to place environmental planning in its wider social, cultural and ecological context.
