Research Interests:

Carolyn is the Convenor of Women’s and Gender Studies. She convenes WGST101 Women in Society: Representations and Realities, WGST209 Rethinking Women, Sex and Gender, WGST301 Contemporary Themes in Women’s and Gender Studies, and WGST505 New Natures: Gender, Culture and New Technologies. She also co-convenes SOCY202 Popular Culture, and contributes to other teaching within the Department of Societies and Cultures.

Carolyn’s current research interests are in the area of gender and new technologies, particularly human assisted reproduction and emerging biogenetic technologies. In the recent past she has conducted research on documentary representations of domestic violence (with C. Kay Weaver), discursive constructions of ‘motherhood’ and ‘the family’, and television audiences.
